The first thing I've done, as always, is to prime the part.
I've downloaded and printed out some photos of the Gold Leader pilot from Star Wars. Since I'm basing my paint job on that particular Y-Wing, I want my pilot to look the part as well. I'm using these photos are color references for the suit as well as the helmet.
So I'm mixing my own orange using flat red and flat yellow to get as close to the color orange from the film as possible.
After matching to my satisfaction, I airbrush the entire figure with the orange paint.
Now I'm going to start the detailing of the pilot, using black, various shades of gray, white and silver.
I'm starting off with the easier parts of painting the boots and gloves gloss black.
I've now painted the white vest and the chest control panel. Sooo time consuming and small. Here is the pilot next to a dime, for scale reference.
So here he is all painted up.
Next I sprayed him with a gloss coat to apply the helmet decals too.
And here he is all finished with the helmet decals added.
So that's the pilot. I'm currently working on the cockpit painting and light it all up. So that should be my next post.
Stay tuned. Much more to come...
